Today's bar study affirmation:
When you blame others, you give up your power to change. A sign of wisdom and maturity is when you come to terms with the realization that your decisions cause your rewards and your consequences. You are responsible for your life, and your ultimate success depends on the choices you make. (Denis Waitley)
This summer will shape your life like no other. You have learned the law, about ...yourself, and what it takes to be a lawyer. You have developed an instinct of discernment and you now comfortably question authority, and demand verification. That's how good you've become.
And yet, there is room to be better! If you have mastered an area - have you checked for a classmate who is struggling in that same area? Don't leave them to fend for themselves. What will your school's bar pass rate be if only you and your study group partners pass the bar? Do the math, then do better.
You may have a righteous complaint if you missed a school-sponsored workshop or did not receive a genius handout . . . but who is really in control of your bar study? Who will reap the positive or other consequences of your bar exam performance next month?
I see the hashtag #ownthebar. Owning the bar requires ownership of all it takes to prepare to succeed on this high-stakes-career-determining-never-want-to-do-this-again-exam. You are uniquely equipped to pass this bar exam and lead future generations to justice and equality! Don't be sidetracked by pettiness - focus on what needs to be changed and then #BeTheChange!
